{"id":1523,"date":"2016-12-19T16:09:41","date_gmt":"2016-12-19T16:09:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.patellawoffices.com\/blog\/?p=1523"},"modified":"2016-12-21T16:11:07","modified_gmt":"2016-12-21T16:11:07","slug":"aba-conference-with-government-officials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/patellawoffices.com\/blog\/planning-for-tax-minimization\/aba-conference-with-government-officials\/","title":{"rendered":"ABA Conference with Government Officials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ABA recently held a conference titled National Institute on Criminal Tax Fraud and Institute on Tax Controversy. \u00a0I attended the conference where many tax attorneys and government officials discussed issues of interest.<\/p>\n<p>Also discussed was the effect of streamlined program to channel most taxpayers into streamlined rather than OVDP. \u00a0Government official John McDougal said that the average $10,000 payment in streamlined suggests that the program is working and that most practitioners are appropriately channeling the small non-willful clients. \u00a0Statistics were announced that show 18,000 streamlined submissions in the last year compared with 1,800 new OVDP submissions.<\/p>\n<p>Tax professionals analyzed the streamlined submission\u2019s certification process and the potential problems, particularly criminal from improper certifications of non-willfulness.
